Meet Andrea
LSCSW, PMH-C, ESMHL, EMDR Certified & EMDR Consultant
Andrea holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The University of Kansas.
Her extensive clinical experience includes working with clients in acute inpatient psychiatric care, ER/crisis-intervention, Intensive Outpatient Groups (IOP), individual therapy, and equine-assisted trauma therapies. Andrea has specialized training focused in perinatal mental health, as well as anxiety and trauma experienced by medical professionals and Veterans/First-Responders. Treatments available: EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, and Equine-Assisted Counseling, and EquiLateral: The Equine-Assisted EMDR Protocol ®.
Andrea is an EMDR Certified Therapist and EMDRIA Approved Consultant through The Touchstone Institute. In addition to clinical therapy.
My Story
Andrea fell in love with horses very early in life, and knows first hand how being around horses helps us to regulate and process emotions. Andrea first became involved with Heartland Therapeutic Riding as a teen volunteer in 2000 and has dreamed of creating an equine-assisted program at Heartland ever since. After becoming mom to a micro-preemie, and decades of navigating the medical and mental health systems professionally, Andrea found her "trifecta of passion" providing Equine-Assisted Counseling for adolescents and adults in Kansas City.

Providing evidence-based counseling for traumatic experiences, grief & loss, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therapists utilize EMDR, CBT, DBT skills, Solution Focused, ACT modalities, and more.
Evidence-based therapy incorporating horses, utilizing CBT, DBT, ACT, EquiLateral: The Equine-Assisted EMDR Protocol ®, family counseling, group therapy, team-building, social skills & self-care workshops.
Individual and group EMDR Consultation towards EMDR Certification hours and towards Foundational EMDR Consultation for trainees of The Touchstone Institute. Virtual or in-person available.
Individual and group Supervision for Licensed MSWs pursuing Clinical Licensure. Availability for in-person, or virtual appointments.
